Job Summary: 

We are seeking a seasoned Lead QA Automation Engineer to lead our Quality Assurance efforts across a portfolio of modern and legacy web applications and backend services. This role is ideal for someone with deep test automation expertise in Java and JavaScript, solid QA experience, and a passion for improving quality in complex, evolving systems. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead a high-performing QA team, focusing on skill development, ownership, and collaboration. 

  • Define and execute the QA strategy for both legacy and modern web applications and backend systems. 

  • Build and maintain scalable test automation frameworks using Java and JavaScript. 

  • Evaluate and incrementally improve the testability of legacy systems with minimal disruption to production workflows. 

  • Increase automated and manual test coverage across codebases with limited documentation or historical QA investment. 

  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, product, and DevOps to embed quality into the software development lifecycle. 

  • Guide risk-based testing strategies and drive test planning for legacy system refactoring and modernization. 

  • Continuously monitor and improve QA metrics, tooling, and processes. 

  • Advocate for and implement best practices in quality assurance across the organization. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in test automation development using Java and JavaScript with frameworks such as Selenium and Playwright (preferred) 

  • 3+ years of experience in QA team management, including hiring, coaching, and project leadership. 

  • Experience working with and improving legacy systems, including adapting modern QA practices to older codebases and architectures. 

  • Strong knowledge of QA tools and test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, FRproof, TestNG, JUnit). 

  • Proven ability to develop test strategies for systems with limited documentation, technical debt, or existing test coverage. 

  • Experience testing web applications and backend APIs/services. 

  • Familiarity with AWS and cloud-based infrastructure. 

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and integrating test automation into deployment workflows. 

  • Excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience utilizing GenAI/LLMs for test development. 

  • Experience working in Agile or hybrid development environments. 

  • Exposure to mobile testing is a plus. 

  • Familiarity with performance and load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling).
