Data Analyst - United Kingdom (London)
API is seeking a highly agile and analytically gifted Data & Business Analyst to join our Client Insights & Strategy team. This individual will extract, analyze, and synthesize data to deliver strategic insights and client-facing presentations. You’ll support executive decisions, product evolution, and operational improvements by leveraging data storytelling, advanced Excel modeling, and AI tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Extract data from internal systems and external sources to support business analysis
- Develop advanced dashboards and client-facing reports in Excel and PowerPoint
- Automate recurring reports using queries and scripts (SQL or equivalent)
- Apply AI tools to enhance insights and identify emerging trends
- Deliver executive-level presentations with storytelling and impact
- Support client delivery teams with business intelligence and operational diagnostics
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive customer outcomes
- Interpret data and analyze results using statistical techniques
- Analyze airline spending and create risk assessment plans utilizing Smith Travel Research market reports, market trends and conditions. Develop reporting for tracking key market changes
- Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain internal databases/data systems
- Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
- Filter and “clean” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems
- Implement improvements to the overall client delivery’s processes to best serve our clients
Required Skills:
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint (data modeling, dynamic dashboards, visuals)
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects etc.), databases (SQL etc.), programming (XML, Javascript, or ETL frameworks)
- Solid business acumen and ability to synthesize insights from multiple data sources
- Proficiency in using AI tools to support decision-making
- Strong communication and storytelling capabilities
- Ability to build macros in Excel and organize data in Access
- Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS etc.)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, normal core business hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Required Education and Experience
- Bilingual English / Spanish preferred
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Analytics, Engineering, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics or related fields
- 2+ years’ data mining experience
- 2+ years in a data analyst role
- Proven experience as a data analyst or business data analyst
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Proficiency in Salesforce platform preferred
- Knowledge of airline, rail, or travel tech industries is a plus
